Hi all:

I am now using spice now, but stucked by some problems.
My vm is XP, and I can the monitor refresh rate! It is always 100HZ, and
it it too high, How can I decrease it ?

Thanks a lot!

Yours.

On VMWare Workstation, there is no such problems. I think it is the issue
of QXL driver.

Thanks.

What problem are you trying to solve by changing the refresh rate?

I just want to make sure that is could be changed or not. And, I think
100HZ is too high, normally 75~85HZ is OK for PC, and 60HZ for laptop.

Too high for what?

The refresh rate is how often a (physical) video card sends information
to a (physical) monitor. In spice we don't have neither a video card
(it is virtual) nor a monitor. So the refresh rate is here just
because windows wants to display it -- it is a completely dummy number.

So, I question it again: what problem are you trying to solve by
changing the refresh rate? Why 100Hz or any other number (say,
1000Hz) is "too high" or "too low"? Where's the actual problem?

Besides, 100Hz is pretty good refresh rate for any CRT monitor.
And now, with 3d LCD monitors, good refresh rate is 120Hz
(unfortunately, only few video cards can deliver 120Hz).

And please stop top-posting.

I think you can safely ignore it as long as you don't experience
frequency-mismatch-caused artifacts like "jumping" of large slow moving
objects in the video stream (which frequently happens if you watch HD
video with different refresh rate than 30/60 fps on typical computer
60Hz screen.

It's just a number, I don't think we are doing anything with it.

miniport/qxl.c: video_mode->Frequency = 100;

And we don't do a lot with it later, I think.

The real question is what the client refresh rate is, which I don't think we touch.

Oh, maybe, flooding, do you want to change it manually ? And what is the
CRT you use ? Could you explain your situation ?
